Join us for a historic, celebratory square dance, as Philadelphia’s only LGBTQ+ square dance club celebrates 35 years of dancing. We are very much hoping to see those of you who are currently dancing with us, as well as those who have danced with us in the past.
While the dance itself will start at 6:30 p.m., we encourage you to arrive any time after 5:30, as we are planning on having some historical “artifacts”, in the form of pictures and other memorabilia to look at.
The dance will be called by the always fabulous Betsy Gotta, who is, herself, a piece of Independence Squares’ history. Betsy is the first person who called for us after our initial founder, and she has been with us at various times through the years as a caller and teacher, not to mention as an ongoing advocate of square dancing and the LGBT community.
Details are as follows:
- Date: Saturday June 1
- Time: 6:30-9:30, but come anytime after 5:30 to see old friends, and old pictures and to share some memories before the dance starts
- Cost: $10
- Programs: Mainstream through C1
- Location: Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion, Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion,
2111 Sansom St. Philadelphia
